What we collect
When you visit treadmillsanonymous.org, we record:
- Your IP address and your browser's user agent (browser, device, operating system).
- Approximate location and network derived from your IP address (city, region, country, internet provider, reverse-DNS hostname, and whether the address belongs to a hosting provider or the Tor network). This is looked up on our own server from the open DB-IP database; your IP address is not sent to a third-party lookup service.
- The page that sent you here (referrer) and any campaign tags in the link (utm parameters).
- Your screen size, language and time zone.
- How you use the page: which sections you scroll to, how long the page is open and visible, how far you scroll, and what you click (including the timer, the pledge, share buttons and ads).
- A random visitor ID and session ID stored in your browser, so we can tell repeat visits apart from new ones.
Your pledge name, streak and timer history stay in your browser and are not sent to us.
Why
To understand which parts of the site actually help people get back on their treadmill, to see where visitors come from, to measure how ads perform, and to spot abuse and bots.
Third parties
We use Google Analytics, and may use Google AdSense. Google can set cookies and collect data under its own policies. You can opt out of personalized Google ads at adssettings.google.com. Sponsored placements on this site are labeled "Sponsored". Fonts are served from our own server, so loading the site doesn't contact Google Fonts.
Where it's stored
Our own analytics data is stored in Microsoft Azure in the United States and is only accessible to site administrators. We don't sell it.
Your choices
Change your privacy choices: allow or decline Google Analytics and ad cookies. Declining also stops us keeping a long-lived visitor ID in your browser. Visitors in Europe are asked before any of this is used.
Clearing your browser's site data resets your visitor ID. You can also ask us to delete data tied to your IP address or visitor ID by emailing hello@TreadmillsAnonymous.org.
Not medical advice
Treadmills Anonymous shares general wellness information. Talk to your healthcare provider before starting a new exercise or nutrition program.
