- Step 7
We humbly put on our shoes.
Then left them by the treadmill so tomorrow starts with one less step.
Most walks are lost in the doorway, not on the belt. Getting from couch to shoes is the hardest part of the whole thing, so we make that part as easy as possible.
Keep a pair of walking shoes next to the treadmill, socks tucked inside. When the shoes are on, you're 90% of the way there. Many days, putting them on is the only decision you'll have to make; the walking follows.
Supportive, comfortable shoes matter more than fancy ones. If your feet or knees ache after walking, the shoes are the first thing to check.
Put your walking shoes and a pair of socks next to the treadmill and leave them there for good.
